I'm putting hydroboost in my 72 and I'm also converting to a serpentine system. My stock power steering pump doesn't match up to the serpentine bracket, so I'll need a newer pump. I seem to recall reading previously that the newer power steering pumps operate at a lower pressure than what the stock 72 pump does, but that I can pull the guts out of the stock unit and put them into a newer pump housing to retain the higher pressure needed for the hydroboost. I've searched the archives and can't find a thread that confirms this.
Do I remember correctly? Can I swap the internals from my stock pump to a new housing and if so, is it a straight forward remove and replace? Any help is appreciated.

The pressure valve is located behind the big nut on the back of the pump. My serp. system is off an S 10 blazer I just used the S10 pump and didn't change the valve
15 years ago I put on a serp system off a '88-91 vette on my '72,
I changed the valve for the '72, screwed it into the '88 pump....
ran it with stock setup for some years....changed to a rack steering setup in 01-02 winter....few years later put in a hydroboost....all with the OEM '72 valving....
trick is, the '72 uses LESS pressure than rack/HB setups, from what I"m told....
If you find a pump for a 90's pick up that had hydroboost, the housing will have 2 return nipples for the booster return line and the steering return line.
