I have a 76 350 that has been rebuilt. Not sure the details other than Edelbrock 750 cfm carb, Edelbrock RPM performer manifold and new 2.5 inch exhast. I have 245 60r15 gillette peerless tires on the rear.
When I punch it I am unable to peel out. Not that I want to do this all the time but what do you think would help make this happen?
My carb was installed 11 years ago, I'm planning on rebuilding it (notice a little hesitation ON ACCEL ). Anything else I can do for short money?

auto trans? what gears? stock stall converter?
Say you have a turbo 350 trans, stock converter, and 3.08 gears, yeah you probably wont be able to spin the tires, especially with a 750 CFM carb on there (a little big for a low RPM motor)
If you havent already done so, read the timing sticky from the top of the page - http://forums.corvetteforum.com/c3-t...long-post.html
Getting your timing curve correct is easily the best performance gain for the dollar spent.
I would first do a good tune up on the motor and dial in the timing.
Next I would change the converter, something with a 3000-3200 stall speed... THAT will wake it up out of the hole...not only will I burn rubber, it will accelerate harder after it hooks up. It will really help out those 3.08s.
Btw Coan is having a sale on their 10" pro street converters right now for $350...that's exactly what you need.
All of that, and no cam? Seems kinda...overkill, to do all of that to the motor and not include a SINGLE power adder. Was the dist. been recurved, timing dialed in? And as mentioned, higher stall speed wil help. My 76' L48, in totally STOCK trim cou spin the tires fairly well, but that was with a manual 4 speedd, with the 3.08 rear gears.

that is a stock rebuild...if that.... 480 lift is nada... dont think you will be getting much more than about ~200hp at the wheels... if lucky.
A stock l82 had about ~220hp at the crank.... a friend dynoed one and got 170hp at the rear wheels....
Hmm. I just bought the car. The guy I bought it from said his friend rebuilt it in 1999 and that it had 400HP. I'm sure that's not true but was hoping it was better than stock.
The list of items I listed about are from receipts.
What about this "melling high performance cam 480 lift" Doesnt this mean it had a new cam?
