Don't get me wrong, I'm fine with digging into the carb. I'm just wondering how do I get to the accel pump on the Road Demon so I can change the pump cam and see how that affects the off idle response. If anyone has a diagram of the carb, that would be greatly appreciated.
I'm looking at a picture of a Demon in a Summit catalog and I can see the accel pump. It is in the exact same location as the pump on a Holley. The pump cam will be on the primary throttle shaft on the driver's side.
The accel pump cam is what moves the arm, which in turn pushes on the diaphram inside the small housing, which in turn squirts fuel out of the squirters at the top of the carb. The cams for Holleys are hard plastic & come in different colors- Demons should be similar if not identical but I'm really not sure. You can get a kit w/ different cams in it at a speed shop fairly cheap.
Changing squirter size can also help you tune your carb.
I love it when you post pics stingy :D . Sounds good guys. I'm new at fooling with the carbs so I'll look into this later on the weekend. I bought the pump cam kit from Holley in hopes that they would be similar. Everything else has been.
I just looked. I found a pink cam there. Is this the stock cam on the holley's too? I noticed you have a blue cam there stingy, how's it accelerate with that one?

I'm not sure what the stock cam is. The blue was suggested to me by our local speed shop guy. I was getting a dry pop off of full throttle. He said this one should pump more fuel and faster. I never did get to tryy it out.
The accel pump pumps to compensate for off idle throttle right? Would that get rid of my off idle flat spot? Maybe the motor wants some gas but is getting choked.
