I'm chasing an electrical gremilin that has recently popped up related to my stereo. Stereo works fine as long as the engine is off, but after engine is started the CD player and USB port music sounds like it is skipping....it worked fine until about 2 weeks ago. Anyway I was under the dash this AM and noticed this component just hanging loose by it's connector, when I touched it the resistor fell off the wire. It goes to a fairly large gauge brown wire and it appears to terminate right at this component. The end of the component is stamped with a big "DR" in the center with 801249 over that and .5 MF below it. I assume this means it's a 0.5 micro-fared resistor. Is this correct? What does it go to/what circuit is it in? (The only thing I see on the wiring diagram that might be it is a 12 BRN wire going to a RDO CAPAC) If I replace it what are the odds it will eleiminate the noise in the stereo circuit?
Thanks for the link to LectricLimited, I had forgot about these guys. Their description for the '70 radio capacitor says it mount to the coil however so I need to call them I guess.
I see you are in Tyler, I lived in Longview for several years growing up.
Thanks again for the lead.
