Default Under Dash Electrical Question

I'm chasing an electrical gremilin that has recently popped up related to my stereo. Stereo works fine as long as the engine is off, but after engine is started the CD player and USB port music sounds like it is skipping....it worked fine until about 2 weeks ago. Anyway I was under the dash this AM and noticed this component just hanging loose by it's connector, when I touched it the resistor fell off the wire. It goes to a fairly large gauge brown wire and it appears to terminate right at this component. The end of the component is stamped with a big "DR" in the center with 801249 over that and .5 MF below it. I assume this means it's a 0.5 micro-fared resistor. Is this correct? What does it go to/what circuit is it in? (The only thing I see on the wiring diagram that might be it is a 12 BRN wire going to a RDO CAPAC) If I replace it what are the odds it will eleiminate the noise in the stereo circuit?

This is the component:

This is were it was plugged in:

Forgot to say, this is a 1970.

I looked in one of the parts catalogs and the only capacitors is see for the 1970 are the:
Ignition Coil Capacitor
Distributor Capacitor

Brake Light Switch Capacitor (shown no longer available)
Heater Blower Motor Capacitor (I know it's not this one)

Thanks in advance guys!!

Looks like the noise suppression capacitor for the radio. Won't effect radio function if unplugged but you'll get some noise.

My wire fell out of mine... can't notice the radio noise due to the 280H cam rumbling around... no worries on this one!

Hard to read the picture It's connected to the 12 brown from the starter switch and is noise suppressor for the radio

Thanks for the pointers guys. This makes sense with the diagram I was looking at then, RDO is short for RADIO and CAPAC short for CAPACITOR.

Also since this thing was just dangling in the air, does it have to be mounted for a case ground to function properly?

The catalogs I have don't list a radio capacitor for 1970, any source that you are aware of where I can get one?

Thanks for the link to LectricLimited, I had forgot about these guys. Their description for the '70 radio capacitor says it mount to the coil however so I need to call them I guess.

I see you are in Tyler, I lived in Longview for several years growing up.
Thanks again for the lead.
