Looking for a set of service ramps that will work with and provide clearance for a 1970 vette. I know that there are some out there but I don’t want to pay the price that they want. I would like to buy just the extensions and fit them to the plastic ones that I bought for $35.00.
I didn't want to pay the price for a set of Race Ramps, but I finally broke down and did it, and I don't regret it. Very nice product, you get what you pay for. I too bought the $40 plastic ramps, and then took them back. You can't use the Race Ramp extensions with the ramps you have, they are not the same angle. I bought the 56" 2 piece Race Ramps. Awesome.
I bought a set of the 2 piece 67" race ramps, set me back $300, there nice, but one thing that i dont like is the lenght at the top of the ramp is too short, i'd like to see them a few inches longer in this area and some kind of a pocket for the tire to sit in.
I briefly thought about making a set of those, but the finished size of them is what stopped me from doing it. I am going to be doing an auto to manual tranny swap this winter on my car, so I am thinking about making some wooden "cubes" to put under the wheels to lift the car high enough off the ground.
Hear is what I built about 9 years ago. You can remove the back ramps after she is on to help with space. It can be disassembled in just a few minutes.
I leave it up and drive on and off evertime I leave the garage(you get use to it) my wife and teen age daughter even drive it off and back on when a shopping trip is in order.......shopping trips seem far to often to me..........LOL
I put wood blocks in front of the ramps(shot into the concrete floor with nails) (not shown in this early photos)as this keep them form sliding forward on the slick floor....this helps if one is loading and un loading by yourself. I first used rubber pads under the ramps and this work great until cold winter weather comes along and makes the rubber loose its grip. The whole thing is 2x4's and 2x12"s
Hope this helps
PS: I got these plans off this site(I think) around 9 years ago......I might have the plans on one of my hard drives...if not I can do a measurement if anyone is interested.

Looks familiar. Check out the attached pic. Solid block construction, but weighs only 220 lbs. Center sections and incline portions can be removed to leave the car sitting on four blocks. For storage it can be nested together in a stack that measures about 6'x3.5'x3'.
