Big block rebuild
I am putting the Big block back together after getting back from machine shop . My question is with the heads does it really matter which head goes on which side and i have heard i need sealent on the head bolt treads is this true

Heads can go on either side- they don't care. And 100% correct- use sealer on the head bolts. I use Locktite thread sealer with teflon, but I've used just about all of the pipe thread sealer stuff from the hardware stores too. Just my opinion, but I don't think that's a good place for RTV type sealers.

Double ck if you have a temp sender in one of the heads. That one goes on the driver's side. Not a big deal either way, but getting those pipe plugs out can be a pain sometimes.
So it doesn't matter which head goes where...but it can mess you up if you can't get the pipe plug later.
