Robert please do us a favor and punctuate your sentences! And also, put a legible title on the thread so we know what we are clicking on.

"Hello everyone. Thank you for your time.
I'm getting frustrated by what seems to be an endless stream of issues with my classic Chevrolet. The Check Engine light has recently illuminated, not the first time such a thing has happened, to my consternation. I grounded the ECM to get the codes. With the key on and the motor off, I get nothing. With the motor on, one flash followed by 5 flashes, a pause, and then 5 more flashes.
An additional problem I am facing is that my headlights will retract but not raise under their own power."
Robert - for your headlight problem, I'm betting one or both of the actuator seals is trashed.

The head lights have a mile of vacuum hoses, two relays and two actuators. There is no easy fix, replace the hose and check each relay and actuator by disconnecting and put a plug on each connection to isolate each item. Then start connecting, you should be able to find a leak or faulty relay/actuator.
If it is leaking it may effect the engine near or at idle.
