I haven't done this because my defogger works fine but I thought that if I ever needed to repair it, I might pick up a conductive ink pen from Radio Shack and run the traces. In theory that should work.
I think Permatex or someone like that sells a copper paint kit and line templete that is used for this repair. I have not tried it yet, but need to. The element appears to be very fine flat copper tape. Does anyone know a source for the copper tape?
GM has a repair kit for them. It is just some masking tape and a silver conductive paint. I am sure Radio Shack or computor suppy store would have it also.
To find out where the break in the grid line is, take a test light and put one end at the top of the grid line and the other end of the light at the bottom of the grid line and the test light should light up. Next move the test light down the grid line until it goes out and that is where the break is.
