Both Power Lock is the 78 I am working on are good and tested to work on the bench, installed and well grounded, all fuses are good, switches tested and work, all other electrical works, new dash wiring harness?
I just posted this after looking harder and finding that the as fuse is blown and 2 replacement immediately:
anyone have a diagram of what plugs into the fuse block?
the first fuse on the left under the circuit breaker, keep blowing fuses, keeps the power locks in the locked position constantly applying voltage to pull in the actuator, quickly turning the actuator in to a handful of heat.. this is with or without the switch installed..the operation of the switch tried to extend/open the lock but move maybe a 1/2 inch. so i immediately unplug the actuators...i know that fuse also powers the lighter, and clock ( i think)...but what else...and the pink wire plugged into the middle accessory slot is required to provide power to the locks apparently
The way the door locks are wired 1 switch can cause both sides not to work. One of the first things I do is install my good off the shelf switches and test, 9 times out of 10 that fixes it. Advanced Auto has a window switch that is the same as the lock switch , Help # 49241 , cost about $8 each. The pigtails also cause problems.
i just went thru this also on my 82. tested the motors, wiring and ground. it ended up being the pass side switch. i got a new one from oreiilys ($18.00) and now both locks work perfect! i could use new pigtails though. anyone sell them new or aftermarket?
i think new switches or switch will fix the op lock problem

yep they had one switch...tested it in place with one of the old...no short, but no major movement, then took that old switch and swapped out with the other one...blew the fuse immediately...so I hope with 2 new ones we are good...other one comes in tomorrow am....

No sure if this will be the same. This is the fuse diagram for my '81.
and here's one from a 79...
As for the pigtails, unless they are in bad shape, you may be able clean them with a decent contact cleaner. Once the vertigris (green nastiness) is cleaned off, apply a bit of dialectric grease and try them out.
Good luck!
