Thanks....I hope I explained a little better this time....I am putting a 383---450 HP engine in a 1982 C3 vette....I plan on installing a fuel pump under the hood with a carbuerator.....what do I need to to with all the stuff in the fuel tank and how to modify? Thanks...
It will be an electric pump.......but I was thinking I needed to remove everything from the tank.....this car has been sitting for about 15 years..so whatever is in tank will not cause me problems.........I am at the frame....rebuilding from ground up.....so I can modify now as needed.......
I'm not the mechanic one.....my buddies are......

If you are using a mechanical pump you just hook it up the same way the original one was connected. If you are using an electric pump there are a number of ways to plumb it. You will want to mount an electric pump close to the fuel tank rather than in the engine compartment.
You really have to be more clear with your questions in order to get more detailed information.
