Typical tach operation ??
I have a new to me 1968 with a 383 stroker engine. The tach needle bounces around about 500 rpm at most rpm's. Is that the way it is "supposed to be" or does this mean I need a new cable or drive in the distributor?

I picked up some dry cable lube from NAPA and used it on the tach and speedo cable. Still waiting to drive it again, but most have noticed a difference. Plus, it'll keep your cable working longer

It will for sure save your speedo head! The cable is reverse wound and it will be pulled in to the head! The head is a magnetic drive...... Ever look behind your old style TV (non plasma TV).... Imagine that stuff mixed with grease...
