converting from auto to 4 speed (M20). i know that the crossmember is the same and doesn't need to be changed for the conversion (other than the trans mounting brackets, etc) unlike many of the earlier years, it appears that the driveshaft i have from the auto set up (OEM) is exactly the same size as required for the 4 speed transmission. am i missing something or is the 78 driveshaft the same for both auto and manual transmission setups?? even the front yoke seems to be correct for the transmission.
Maybe call one of the Forum Sponsors and talk to their tech reps - Paragon, Ecklers, etc.
From what I've seen a lot of folks converting to manual go with a Tremec system from Keisler and it comes with every nut, bolt and part necessary for the switch. In the long run it might be less hassle to do it that way versus trying to install factory pedals, linkages, etc. If you google this conversion you'll find a nice writeup with photos from a guy that converted his auto with a Tremec system.

i appreciate the suggestion. i decided a while ago when i decided to make the switch that i would use OEM parts as far as i could, and i have virtually everything except a couple of brackets and the bell housing at this point. i have a great driveshaft fabricator here in the ft lauderdale area should it come down to that, but there are also some great original parts suppliers here too. i just don't want to hunt down something i don't need. i'll have to find a buddy with an AIM and check the part numbers, etc.
