Please help. I am a new user to the post and am rebuilding a 72 PS control valve with a kit from Mid America. The schematic is pitiful, can't tell a seal from washer on the diagram. I went to Zip products and they had the same one.
I am getting a leak of PS fluid from the ball stud grease fitting and seams from the ball stud seal. I mean a serious leak, after it warms up and I turn the wheel back and forth with the wheels in the air. I went back thru the valve and seem to have everyting in order but, I don't see where a # 18 "ring" seal goes or if I have one (mid america say's none included). Also I can't seem to get the back up washer on between the annulus seal and annulus spacer? If I put it on, the valve housing will not get tight with the adapter housing.
I rebuilt mine with the kit from zip and still had a leak around the ball stud. The ball itself was dented in and I wasn't going to spend another $30 on the ball stud rebuild kit. I sucked it up and bought one of their rebuilt ones. Best $79 I spent. It is centered, doesn't leak etc...
I too had the problem with the diagrams. It helps a lot if you lay out each piece as you take it apart so that you can duplicate it as you put it back together.
