I did it using a car that i knew had properly set up headlights!
Puts the lights on, mark where the tip of the car is, take note of where it lights things, back up, swap cars, adjust headlights till it lights up the same things.

I passed MOT like that! Before that i tried to set them up using a machine 3 times and failed each time...

I am running out of adjustment going left to right. Not sure if the buckets are correct for this car now?

Grumpy,

The headlight buckets are marked ( A,B,C,and D) and need to be in their correct locations.
If they are swapped around I'm thinking you might not be able to adjust them.

Hey, I just pass on info. I've learned here on the forum.
I had a spare set of buckets I sold awhile back but before selling them I found the stamped letters. I'll tell you now, they aren't easy to see on 42 year old parts!

The most common problem is the little plastic adjustment fittings are broken.

Tim81, I beleive you screw the top one in not out to raise where the bulbs point. Also the bucket unit itself has an adjustment from underneath to raise and lower.

"A and D" are the same one adjust at the top and one on each side 180 deg from each other. same with "B and C" so there are really only two possible installation. A B C D or B A D C otherwise you wont be able to reach the adjust screws with the headlight covers on.
