1980 electrical issues
Just fired up my 1980 and discovered that lots of stuff on the dash does not work. The tach and some of the gauges are dead and my new alternator, at least by the gauge and the warning light, is not charging. The battery is new and will work the power windows so the cabin is getting juice. Plus, a buzzer in the front fender buzzes constantly! I'm not sure where to start. Help!

Why did you replace the alternator? If everything worked before you replaced the alternator I would check the new alternator and attaching wiring. Have you put a voltmeter on the battery or the back of the alternator to see if it is even charging?

I was not clear. The alternator was replaced before I got the car and it was working. With a good battery in the car I assume there would be activity with the gauges as i attempt to start the car. There is none now except the alternator light. NO gauges do anything. The car does start and run. The fuses are ok. Plus the buzzer makes all kinds of noise. What's next?
