Default Need help-Exhaust

Let me start by saying hello to everyone. I am a newbie to Vettes. I just purchased my first Vette-a 1978 Silver An. Edition L-82.

I got the car at a great price, but I need to do a little TLC to it to make it mine. First off, the exhaust needs to be replaced. I have a local exhaust shop lined up to do it this week on Wednesday. He thinks I should put on a full dual exhaust and ditch the cat.. Is this a smart move? Is there anything hooked to the cat. that will cause me problems????

Please let me know your thoughts. I would like to do it right at the beginning.

Thanks in advance.

Welcome!

I went to duals and no cat on my 79 about 10 years ago. Car ran very well afterwards; no problems.

Now, however, in New Hampshire, they have tightened the emission regulations; so I couldn't do the same modification to my 75 (I no longer have the 79).

Check your local regs. Otherwise; should be good to go.

We don't have any emisions testing around here yet. I seriously doubt any cops would actually check an exhaust system to see if it is altered. But then again, I have been wrong before.LOL

Thanks for the response.
