Default Lower Shroud Bracket - 1968 Only?

Am I correct that this bracket I'm searching for is a(nother) 1968 only part?

It's one of the L shaped lower brackets for a 1968 radiator shroud. It attaches to the large radiator lower baffle pan with one bolt and no nut. There are 2 per car.

Please note that It's not iether of the L shaped brackets that weld to the shroud, but rather the part that those welden on brackets bolt to in the lower baffle.

I believe I have the same brackets on my 71, I had a long search in finding them, and then switched to an electric fan.
A left and a right side as they are different lenghts due to the motor not sitting in the center of the car.I have part numbers also they are as follows 3974661 (drivers side) and 3974662 (passenger side) both of mine have a bolt and nut on each end of each bracket.
Maybe these are different then 68s ?

before someone asks for them I am holding on to them, all parts will go with the car if the buyer wants them.

The '68 are held on with just a bolt because the nut is welded to the lower baffle pan.

They might be the same brackets - might not. A pic would help.

Email received thanks!
They are not correct. The '68 ones look like a piece of flat stock with a right-angle bend and a hole on each side. 1" on the pan side 2 1/4 where the shroud would bolt to it. No ridges or anything. Just flat steel with a bend and 2 holes.

Clams-

Actually the bracket GM p/n 3919746 was used in both 1968 and 1969. I just had a car in the shop last week with these I wish I'd have taken a picture.

They are just 90 degree bent flat stock. There are two oval holes in them and the top one runs left to right the lower one up and down. I think there is a good pic of this in the AIM. +

I'm not positive, but the brackets are the same width as the one that comes off the bottom of the fan shroud. I'm assuming you have the metal "Drum bottom" shroud too..

In 1970 the design was changed to a completely different bracket.

Hope this helps.

Clams-

Not a bad idea. When I get the 78 and 81-82 stripes done, I'll look in to it.

As I understand it now they were used (at least) in all 68-69 small blocks without AC.

you are right.. all with a metal shroud 1968-1969 used two of them.

Budman.. if you have one.. I'll use it for a pattern and make a few. Shouldn't be that hard for me.

No problem. I'll see how easy it is to remove tomorrow night. I can probably temp up something with scrap to hold the shroud in place while you do your take off. PM me where you want it mailed and to who's attention.

As I suggested - make sure you market them WITH the mounting hardware.
There is no way to lose that bracket without losing the 5-16th hardware too.
You'll make a few extra bucks per order - and do the owner a great service at the same time.
