I am looking into getting a Performer RPM intake manifold and I know they are a slightly taller manifold that the Weiand duel plane I am running now. I also have a Nitrous plate in there as well. Will I have a hood clearance issure with the edelbrock performer RPM manifold? If so what can i do about it. I am currently running a 14X4 air cleaner I think so I could always go down to 14X2 I guess. Depending on when I can get a new carb I may even need to run an adapter plate for a short while too.
Peformer RPM won't clear stock hood on your '79, if you are running stock height air cleaner/filter assembly, and it really won't for you since you also have the NOS plate. You'll have to go with a drop base air cleaner set up if you want to run this combination with a stock hood.
So I could get away with performer rpm intake, nitrous plate, with drop base 4 inch air cleaner. If I have to go down to a 2in or 3in if they make them air filter will that effect my performance much or not enough to really worry about?
Sorry guys i did not mean to get you guys excited it, the only reason why i wanted to make sure if it was a high rise or l88 is because i have seen a hood called high rise by vanacor in the last houston vette show and it looked very close to yours(wowbagger). I just have not seen it installed in a vette, and i am interested in getting one because of clearance under the hood, but i dont want the hood so far out from the stock look so wowbagger if you have any other pictures from the front or side would you post them for us to see. I think it looks great on your vette.
thanks guys
ray
Let me get back to you regarding the "front photos".I have som but they are really bad because i shoot it with a poor digitalcamera.. :D Did the "real"L88 hood habe scoops on the front were the bulge beginns?
monkeywrench's picture of his hood is a l88 hood it has a sharp line in front of the rise instead of a smooth line like the normal high rise and it has a induction openning in the front.
