You should do it! It would be different from anything else out there but most of all everyone would want to know what you have under your hood when you smoke them! yes sir! I would help you with it if your in the D.C. area.
I concur with the general sentiment that it's an odd idea, and not in a good way. Strange combos can often be cool, if you search there's a corvette diesel swap that really looked interesting, this one however sounds like a dud. If you're just going for odd, why not something that's more condusive to the style of car. I always thought a swap from a euro exotic would be cool (not cool enough for me to do it, but gawk at in a thread certainly). Good luck either way
I've got a 500 in my 76 Eldorado convertable and can tell you its a boat anchor. I know the car is heavy, but it's still a big fat soggy motor. Thats why there are very few companies out there that do anything with them.
These guys are the only ones I found that had anything really going for them back when i was thinking about doing something with mine:
I'm right there there with you, I have the motor and looking into the swap. I have been thinking about this for a long time myself. In stock trim The 500 has 300 hp and is 45lbs. lighter than a 454, I don't remember tq#'s but maybe over 400ftlbs. for added shock value I'm putting mine in a 82 crossfire injected vett and plan to use the fuel injection set up on the caddy. Good luck with yours I will post pics when I start.
Not often, but if you want to do a cam or manifold change, you KNOW that the dissy has to come out, unlike on a Holden V8. At least GM got something right when they designed a V8 with the dissy unattached to the inlet manifold.
