Hello ... what is the best points-to-electronic ignition conversion kit for the price? I want to convert my 1968 327 Automatic w/Tach & advance vac.....Also.. is that the correct name for it? I did a google search and I did not find many. Thank you all
I can't speak for "best", but I've installed the Pertronix kit a number of times and I've been running one for about 6 years. The engine makes about 425 flywheel HP and I've never had any issues.
Pertronics has woked for me for years in both my 64 & 73. Nice thing about them is they fit right in the stock distributor with no other external equip. needed. Looks factory correct when done, with exception of the wires to coil, etc. but can't really see them with the shielding, and they provide a much better performance than stock points and condensers, IMHO.

I'm in the Pertronix camp been there since 1982 or so when it was known as the Perlux Ignitor (Perlux was a truck lighting company.)
We carried them in the NAPA store that I worked my way through college at, spending more time worried about the tasks that needed to be finished to compete in my MOPARs at the weekend street races rather than my school grades
I run Pertronix (part number 1181?) in five old Chevy's. No problems ever. I also run their FlameThrower coil and a full 12v.
Provides plenty of reliable spark and all looks perfectly stock.
My apologies for reviving an old post. I was looking for some advice on which unit to replace the points on my 1972 LT1 and found this post, I thought I would ask my question in this post instead of just starting a new post on the same topic.
My question is:
The previous owner replaced the stock dist with a malory dual point dist. Will this P/N work on this dual point dist?
Are you plnning on keeping the Mallory dist? There is a Ignitor kit for a Mallory but, I would install a stock Delco cast iron TI distributor in a LT-1 Vette myself.

I did plan on re-installing the stock dist, since it was rebuilt prior to me buying the car.
The Ignitor I is just a Hall-effect trigger for the coil, the Ignitor II adds microproccessor control for a more stable and effective trigger signal at higher RPM, and the Ignitor III incorporates an even more advanced control unit to increase coil output, along with a built in rev-limiter.
They all function well, fit under the cap, and are a nice upgrade over points.
