Ok guys - Chevy never made an '83 vette model, so what's going to be the deal with 50-years ?
Let's see - oh yeah, 1953 was 50 years ago, but GM only made 49 vette models in that time period - I think 50 years should be marked on 2004 instead of 2003 ... but that's my opinion - what's yours ?
Also, should more C3 stylin' go into the next C6 ? - it look like a Ferrari 360 by the sketches !
I think the anniversary should be in 2003, afterall 1953 was the first year for Corvette. As far as design goes, I'd like to see them bring the big block back and put the Viper in its place :smash:. I suppose that all aluminum ZL1 would do :D
As you all know, retro styling is coming back into fashion. Look at the new T-bird, P/T Cruiser, the new Chevy vert truck with bulging fenders. I personally would like to see the 50th take design cues from C1s. Nothing radical but how about some chrome???? I really miss honest to goodness chrome on a car. I'm not talking about wheels, I'm talking bumpers, headlight bezels, etc. I would like to see a retro-styled Vette for the 50th. I'm sure many of you have seen the picture floating around of a C5 restyled as a 53. That is so cool I would have to go pick one up.
(1) 1983 model ??? - does anyone have any documentation on this or photo proof ?
To my knowledge they sold 1982 models during 1983.... :chevy
Also, 1-car doesn't count because that's not production... Usually production is 100+ cars or so. Sounds more like an '84 prototype to me that never left GM :bs
Officially, There were no 1983 Corvettes. There were forty seven 1983 Corvettes made but none were ever sold. The National Corvette Museum has the only 1983 known at this time. The new Corvette plant in Bowling Green, KY closed in October of 1982 to begin retooling for the 1984 Corvette. Production began in January of 1983 and the press received their first view of the 1984 Corvette in January of 1983. In February, the first production 1984 Corvettes were sold to the public. In March of 1983, the 1984 Corvette officially went on sale in the United States, except for California and a month later, in April, the 1984 Corvette went on sale in California. By October of 1983, the plant was in full speed production. :hat
