Corvette Central Duel Exhaust????
Any one running Corvette Central's shorty header duel exhaust kit?? Thinking about getting the kit with the headers shorty headers, and Magniflow mufflers for my 78. Just wanted to see if anyone out there has it, and if they are happy with it. Thanks!

I purchased a dual exhaust kit from them about 2 years ago and am happy with it. If I had it to do over again a would have bought the shorty headers and magnaflow all in one kit.
The kit I purchased was just the dual exhaust w/hidden mufflers, it sounds good but magnaflows would have sounded better and trying to plumb from my shorty headers to the new exhaust was a pain in the ***.

I have the Corvette Central Dual exhaust kit with the shorty headers and magnaflow mufflers on my 75 vette. I like it, it has a nice deep sound... sometimes a little loud but I am ok with that. Very easy to install also.

i have the shorty header kit from CC exhaust on my 80. I had some fitment problems. The pipes were too long, the "ears" were in the wrong place and the way the flanges were on one of the headers it was impossible to get an appropriately sized nut on the bolt, had to cut them down. And they were not bent correctly. A local exhaust guy tweaked them for me and now they fit just fine. It sounds great! but i am going to have to give it a B- because of the issues i had.

Thanks for all the input! I plan on getting the 2.5in kit with headers for my 78. I just ordered the 2.5 big block kit for my friends 69 427. Kinda letting him be the Ginny pig!

Udder Disappointment!
Well received the 2.5in magniflow exhaust today. Got ready to put it on my buddies 69 427, and noticed something. It is 2.5in, but they weld in 2in tips in the end of the mufflers!! How stupid is that! I told him to call and complain. So we will See what happens. I guess I will be ordering the Pypes Exhaust system for my car. I sure am not going to spend that much money just to still have it choked down to 2in!

Just an update.
Got the Corvette Central exhaust on the 69. The passengers side went on with out a hitch. But the drivers side did not fit at all. Took a lot of modification to get it on. Sounds good other than the 2in restriction of the small tips. We are going to take it to an exhaust shop and get the small tips cut out of the mufflers and have 2.5in installed. Really a shame. Defeats the purpose of a 2.5in exhaust, and Magniflow mufflers. Why would go to all the trouble of making a free flowing exhaust only to put restrictions in the end of it. Oh well.
Oh we did call corvette Central they told us that restricting the exhaust at the tips will not create any back pressure. Yea right. So I asked them what is the point on the straight threw flow Magniflow mufflers, if restriction dose not mater? Well he had no comment. But did confess the reason they do it is so that they can use there factory 2in tips and not have to make bigger ones. Pretty disappointing. Now I am not sure what exhaust I am going to put on my car.

I had a '69 427 a long time ago. Memory isn't real clear but I think the bezel is a real tight fit for anything larger than 2-1/4. You should check the specific system for your car at the Magnaflow site. I have a Magnaflow 2.5" stainless system on my '72 454 and I assure you it's got plenty of opening at the tip(s) -- but the dual tips do neck down to a 2.5-inch muffler outlet:

Your post made me go check the Magnaflow outlets on my 72. The quad tips are 3-inch OD but the pipe connecting those tips to the muffler necks down to a single 2.25-inch OD pipe (yes, Outside Diameter and i can't measure the ID). The actual muffler outlet looks like 2.5-inch. My apologies for shooting my mouth off before checking.
I was reading Car Craft this evening and it has an article on anti-hot-rodding legislation. One of the hot buttons is exhaust noise and a lot of aftermarket exhaust companies are working to quiet their mufflers to meet California's 95 decibel rule. Small tailpipes may be aimed at meeting that rule.

check out my 3 inch dual exhaust on my 71. look under my name. plenty of pics. took it to a custom exhaust shop and everything fit great. i went with the longer magnaflows. the shorter magnaflows seeem to sound like a glass pack under full throttle. the longer ones hold the deep tone even under full throttle. i cut my original exhaust tips and ovaled the 3 inch pipe to get them inside the exhaust tips. real easy to do. bent pipe with a vise and cut exhaust tip with accetyline touch. 3 inch all the way i used the full lenght headers to. there is a big difference between 2 1/2 and 3 inch in real life. if you are running a small block or mild big block a 2 1/2 should be plenty. mine is a 489 stroker high compression solid cam.
