outer door handle
I'm in need of a outer door handle and see lots of different prices from different reproduction parts catalog , who makes a good one , I want to do this once and plan to keep my 79 vette for a long time

Don't waste your money with reproductions. Find yourself a GM part. I went through two driver handles and one passenger handles in 3 years, all reproduction. I installed a set of GM handles about 5 years ago and they still feel new.

I totally agree. I replaced my door handle in my 79 with the low price reproduction one and it does not feel at all like the original. Some time I'll go back in the door and replace it with a GM part.

Do they sag like mine? If so buy the actual spring that fits inside the door handle. It's going to be a pita removing and installng it anyway. Just go the extra distance, drive the pivot pin out and replace the spring. This is what I'm going to do instead of spending $100 for "new gm" part. That will pe a pita also but for me, the time to repair it outweighs the cost for "new" door handles(s).
