Can anyone tell me where to get the little plastic/teflon (?) gear assy that goes into the trans for the speedometer cable? It's for a 1973 350 eng with a 4 speed. I'm not having much luck with this one. Thanks.
73 4 speed cars could have used many different gears based on the rear end that is in the car. The chart at this link contains the GM original part numbers and you should be able to find one at any dealer. Buick, Pont, Cady or Chevy. But you should remove the old gear first and count the teeth! This is the easiest way to make sure you are getting what you have.
Assuming you have the original drive gear in the car your car could use a 18, 19 20 or 22 tooth gear.
Not trying to argue with what Tom posted above, but if you are trying to make an adjustment in the speedometer, 1 tooth is equal to about 5 mils per hour.
