I have one on my 1982. Had to install it after installing a msd 6al. Works ok, i can still hear a little hiss but not bad. If you are a real audio pro you might not like it.

I also added one with little difference made. My stereo system was perfect, then after the engine swap and MSD ignition added, I picked up a clipping in my tweeters at low volume. First I grounded the head unit directly to the battery neg...no dice...then I added noise filters on the power wires to the HU, no dice. Next was the MSD capacitor...made a slight difference but still audible. Last I tried the alternator capacitor that Ecklers sells...very little improvement. I finally gave up and live with it. On mine it only clips at low low volume levels so you really never hear it unless you are listening for it. I may try a filter on my amp power wires and that's all I can do...
I'm not sure if it's ignition noise or alternator. I just switched to a cs144 so I can't wait to see if anything changes...
Clipping in my case would be an understatement, it's more like the CD skips when the engine is running BUT it also does the same thing from the USB source which has no movng parts. It's fine if the engine isn't on but I kind of like the two working togother for obvious reasons.

How's that Super 10 coming along?
Not to thread jack but.....
Last I talked to Tracdogg, he had my rear end gutted, he found no major component failure other then worn out clutches, side yokes etc....Posi case was fine..He ordered my parts from Toms Diffs and is waiting for the parts to show up. In the mean time he is gonna blast/clean/paint the case, the cross member, and trailing arms. Also he is trading me out some trailing arms off of an old race car that already had the e-brake brackets relocated to the top for tire clearance. We are still tenatively shooting for an Oct 1st completion date....Just depends on how fast he gets everything. If it is done on the first, I will have the car driving by the 4th...
Put a Pertronix IgnitorIII with a built in rev limiter and use one of their 0.3 Ohm coils, the spark is decently hot and if you have the AFR of the carb tuned "in the ballpark" there should be no noise or plug fouling issues. I made 440HP using a Pertronix on a build several years back on a motor that would pull through 7500RPM with no problems.
You could also try to install shielded wires to the tweeters and ground them at the head unit only to eliminate RFI pick-up but, with a fiberglass car it is a never ending fight (when doing this only ground the shield at the head unit, if you do it out by the speaker connection you'll probably pick-up noise.) GM had several grounding straps on OEM C3 Vettes take a good look at a AIM guide to see what I mean (I think there were about 8 of them to prevent RFI noise.) There were also a few filter capacitors on C3 Vettes when you take a good look around you start seeing them (ignition switch, heater blower motor, ect...)
I solve this "noise" problem by owning loud solid lifter equipped C3 Vettes so audio clarity is a secondary consideration on my C3 Vettes
Since you guys are talking about MSD filters. Did anybody have to use a MSD adapter/filter for that tach lead? The instructions state to remove/bypass the GM inline tach filter and if that does not work, use one of the MDS tach adapters. Kelso does your tach work well the 6AL ?
Thanks,
