Small Block vs. Big Block

There are some 9sec S/C and Turbo C5's there that are daily driven they will get one lane and street tires on the other. I should get a half decent launch and if nothing breaks a pretty good trap speed. That is what I am looking for something over 121mph, even with a crappy start.
There are a couple of reasons I never raced it until this year. First like I said above I lost interest as many do over the years, my buddy who owns the engine shop hasn't been down the track in years, he is into boats and snow machines.
Second is the paint. It was very expensive to get it painted at Legendary Motor Cars and the paint was very very good and lasted a long time before I even got one little chip, Sikkens paint they were using at the time. So I didn't want to f'up my paint job.
Now I don't really care, paint is still good 9/10 with a few chips here and there so it doesn't bother me to take it to the track anymore.
Third for some unknown reason I took my Turbo PT Cruiser to the track last summer and the bug kinda hit me again, funny how that happens.
So over the winter I am going to beef up the rear end, get some drag radials and see what it will do next summer. Don't forget this is not some newbie experience for me as I was top qualifier many times in my 440 'Cuda back in the late 70's early 80's.
That said it's not really like riding a bike because the Vette I have right now would hand the 'Cuda it's ****, I would be having a sandwich on the return road before the 'Cuda crossed the line the cars are that much faster now

And finally my Vette is a real handful, all the way from the IRS suspension to the power to the tranny which is a great street transmission but I do not like it on the track, I have missed gears more times than clean runs.
