I was thinking that was the case, after reading the Torker Specs. on the Edelbrock web site. Looks like the first step to tame this beast is to go to a dual plane manifold.

I had a Holley double pumper on a 64 with a NOM years ago and it ran well, but the intake manifold was a dual plane and the cam seemed quite mild. As I mentioned before, I like a Quadrajet, so after I change the manifold to a dual plane, I may go with a spreadbore. One step at a time.
