Default Transmission guru"s ;need some help

I recently had a summit TH350 installed in my 77. The tranny is great , vibration is gone, car runs better. It does not however have the kickdown cable installed. The installer showed me the card that was attached to the plugged kickdown indent access that read" DO NOT REMOVE THIS PLUG, this transmission is designed to work without a kick down cable". I have contacted summit and was told two different things with the last being Not to install kickdown. ?? It shifts automatically but doesn't kick into passing gear on the hwy like the old 350 did. I'm still waiting for a spec sheet from summit as there is some confussion as to what I actually have built into this unit. It seems to have a shift kit in it as the 1-2 shift is VERY firm and produces a chirp from the rear when accelerating slightly hard.
Am I going to do damage to the tranny without a kickdown as in some other trannies ie 700r,200r? Have you heard of this type of setup in 350"s?
