look at the ht383 stroker small block. its a good engine that starts out with like 385 hp and around 420 lb ft. i think i got mine for 4k, and with an additional 3k you can make it a small-block viper eater from hell. look at my sig. in any case i cant remember where i got mine, manfred somethin i ordered through my local shop, but if you type in HT383 in a search bar on the net youll find it pretty quick. if youve got the money its nice to have somethin that will have the ability to annihalate anything stock on 4 wheels that doesnt belong in a museum or under lock and key. but you gotta reinforce from the tranny back, i am on the disabled list since my rear end went out real quick with the new power
good luck and if you dont want to spend that much, go with a zz4. theyre good motors :yesnod:
http://www.sallee-chevrolet.com They will sell you a stock crate engine (ZZ4, Ram Jet, etc) and they will also sell you a crate engine to your specs. Example, they will take a stock ZZ4 and remove the long nose water pump and install a short style for use in a Vette. They will change cams, heads etc. to make it almost any HP you want. Check them out.

Amerspeed.com is where I got my 400HP 383 stroker. They are not the cheapest, but I have been very satisfied with mine. Gail Trent is the owner, and if you call, most times he answers the phone. They were very patient with all of my questions before and after the purchase.
This advise may sound obvious but. . .
No matter who you decide to purchase a crate engine from, be darn sure that you fully understand exactly what is included for the price along with details regarding the warranty (if any).
With that being said, I can't recall anyone on this forum ever having anything bad to say about their GM ZZ4 engines.
Got my short block 415 kit from them, and it rocks! They were always helpful, replaced returned parts, and in every case I got exactly what I thought I bought from them. Solid company.
I have met already a couple of people that have bought crate engines or parts from Speedomotive and all of them were satisfied with their quality. As soon as I am ready to change my engine - I will order a new engine from them!

I bought my ZZ4 Crate engine from Scoggins Dickey in Lubbock, Texas. There was a mix-up when I went to pick up my engine. I drove well over 3 hours to get the motor they said they had my name on. I even spent the night there, so I could pick it up in the morning. They didn't have my motor, they didn't even have a ZZ4 in stock. But they did make it right with me. They paid for my gas I used, motel room, and even had enough for 2 to eat a Texas Steak before I left. Then they shipped the crate motor freight pre-paid to the docks where I work.
I have to give it to SD for going out of their way to satisfy a customer, and I didn't even have to get upset or even raise my voice. :D
So, in my opinion, they are the best around. But it does matter where you live, due to pickup/shipping.
Here is there links and contact I used.
