I just sold my 70' vert and have a set of heads left over. Thet are 492 dbl. humps. They have about 5k miles on them. Any idea on what they should sell for. I want to sell them at a fair price. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks and happy easter.
Re: NEED HELP: selling cylinder heads (90 droptop)
i'm not really an expert so my opinion is worth squat but i think there are a couple of factors we should know first. if i remember right (someone correct me if i'm wrong), some of the later double humps were open chamber while all the early ones were closed. which are yours? when you had them rebuilt, did you have all the nifty stuff done? 3 angle valve job, new valve guides, shaved, one piece valves, etc? the problem is that there have been so many advances in port and chamber designs in 30 years that original heads are obsolete (however, that doesn't mean they're not any good) from a performance standpoint. people wanting excellent small block heads now can get a pair of assembled aluminum heads ready to go out of the box for >$1000, cast iron even less. your best bet for good money is to find someone working on one of those bottomless pit project cars that just has to have the right date stamp or the world will come to an end. the right buyer will probably pay $800-1000 if that is what he needs. otherwise, for some bubba (like me) looking for a cheap way to go fast, my guess would be $200-400.
