My new rear bumper -'78 - has been painted and is currently installed - without the 4 round lense retainers. I need to install the tail/backup light lenses but the new bumper did not have the holes pre-cut for this.
Is it correct that the 4 round retainers go between the bumper and the mount that has the 3 holes in it?
What would be a good way to drill the holes for this? I would love to avoid removing the bumper but there is no room for a drill behind that large mount behind the bumper.
If you are using a urethane bumper the holes should be drilled. If you are using a fiberglass or true flex you will have to drill the holes. You can do it with the bumper installed but I do not suggest it unless you are extremely talented. Whenever I replace a bumper I actually drill it from the front (but you do not have to worry about the paint) I use the flange that the lights screw to, to lay it out, drill my holes, then bolt the bracket directly to the bumper, Simple as that
