I click on one of the commercials i call it that runs above the forum. Its for an item called Cleartastic. It protects your car from chips. Has anyone tried this item. It looks like a cheap but good investement. Here is a link http://www.cleartastic.com/corvette.htm
The add for 68-82 states "Protects in Front of The Rear Wheels (Dog Leg)"
Why would you want protectoin thier wouldn't you want it BENIND the rear wheels?
not really. in fact thats where most of your nasty crud gets kicked up from the road. why do you think they always tell you to check in FRONT of the rear wheels for frame rust when you buy a corvette? really it sounds like a good product ill have to check it out :hat
The pieces behind the wheel have been on my car for about 6 months. No rock chips. The pieces that go in front of the wheel well came off during the first big rain.

Yes Protection behind the rear wheel is necessary. Our kit #15 does protect the paint from road debris from the rear tire (replaces mud flaps)
But since the area in frt of the rear wheels (dog leg) flares out it also gets blasted by on coming rocks and rod debris much from it's own frt. tires. That's why we created kit #14 :)

Unless it was a monsoon, it should not be a problem.
We wind tunnel tested in dry and wet conditions@160 mph and our film held no problem. Give me a call and I will work something out with you!
I have Cleartastic both in front of and behind the rear wheels. Just put it on a couple of months after my paint job though, so I don't know how it works yet. I followed the installation directions to a T and they went on quite nicely, and we have a full bottle minus 2 drops of Joy dishwashing detergent left over for kitchen use. :D I'll let you all know after a couple of cruises this spring how it works out. I have to drive on a gravel road for almost 2 miles to get to the highway, so it should be a good test. Later.

Hey Justin!
Good to hear/see from ya! Enjoy!
I haven't used the product from Cleartastic in particular but I have used clear plastic which can be bought at the local motorcycle shop or mail order for this very purpose. In fact, my brother has a '89 with a Greenwood ground effects kit. We first put it on his lower fairing pieces as he is confined to a wheelchair (paralyzed from a car crash) because his wheelchair was marring the paint. Worked great.
If Cleartastic sells it pre-cut then that's definitely the way to go!
