Default Wiper Tubes and Nozzles

Hi guys,

So I'm at the end of my build of my 71 Corvette. I thought that I would share this idea with you since I've searched and have not seen it on this forum. If someone has done it, well it's my bad!

So, I'm at the final touches of finishing the car and the wipers were one of the issues to be done. The link below shows the finished wipers, you can enlarge to view it better. Since I'm in Kuwait, I tend to innovate I guess.

Here are the details:

1. Yes, I have chromed the arms , limited to one application of chrome plating so it won't be very shiny (cost $10).

2. Washer tube are actually refrigerant tubes ($4.50 for both).

3. Washer tube clips from Corvette America (total cost $21), I would use straps if I were you! As an advice if you use clips, try to use a strap next to the tube bend since that clip never holds in place.

4. Spray nozzles are found on 1991 and earlier Full size Blazers and Astro Vans (cost $1.50 with the long rubber tubes from the junkyard). Astro Van nozzles are a bit wider than the Blazer ones, see which ones fits your application depending on the wiper arms.

5. Steel wiper blades from a local supplier, we just tell him the length and he gives it to us (cost $3 for both).

Goodluck

The link below shows a glimpse of what's going on with my 64 Corvette, but I've put it on a hold since I have 3 other cars that I'm working on.

It's hard to get all the parts here in Kuwait. However, I have found some of the rare parts actually available. For example, I just bought a GM washer pump kit that fits on top of the wiper motor for $12

On the other hand, I spoke too early too soon. I need to post a thread about AC. It's related to air gates. So, I'm back to square one. I have to uninstall the under dash after I have struggled to fit it so perfectly!

Thank You Sir!

Q1 When you suggest "straps" instead of clips ... do you mean common nylon wire ties? Or what?

Q2 With Your '71 arms ... did you use nozzles from '91 & earlier FS Blazer? ... or ... Astro?

Q3 Would you please more-fully identify / source "refrigerant tubes" ? ... appears common copper refrg tubing?

We need to see some more pictures for both projects, especially the BB '64.

A1 Yes, black nylon wire ties would do fine where the first clip from bottom is...!

A2 On mine, I used FS Blazer nozzles, but they did not fit just right! They hang in there though! There is a round metal piece on the nozzle that keeps the arm from clipping right. I will either modify it, or get the Astro ones just to check.

A3 I actually went to the household refrigerator repair shop and asked him for the smallest copper tubing he's got .

I know what you mean, it took me a full year to restore my '71, and I was working each and every weekend, morning to evening, non-stop!

Default Modification!

Here is the modification done to the wiper nozzles. You can follow the link below and look at the last three pictures:

http://www.flickr.com/photos/71and64...7624959268961/

1. Yes again, I have chromed the pipes .

2. The last picture shows the nozzle from top with a lump (small circle) in the middle. This lump keeps the nozzle clip from fitting right.

3. The picture 3rd from last shows the nozzles from the side. The one on the right has the lump grinded off while the one on the left is not. Now nozzles fit perfectly now.

4. The picture 2nd from last shows the wipers complete.

Good luck
