Did all 1980 L82`s come with smog pump?I know it had sometype of air pump ,but the person I bought my 80 from bought it new and said he never changed exhaust manifolds,I can`t find where the tubes go in at I think maybe he`s to old and can`t remember.Do I have to find a particular pump, and exhaust manifolds ?Where the tubes black or not? Sorry for all the questions but I just know somebody on here has the knowledge.
I would have thought all 80's Vettes had the pump and tubes. Have you still got the rams horns or headers?
Not sure what color they would have been originally.
Will dig out some pics of my 79 L82 for comparison.
My 79 L82 I owned new came with the whole smog setup . So I'm 99% sure the 1980 would too. You would need the correct manifolds with holes tapped for the tubes. People that took the tubes off , used brass plugs screwed into the tube holes. You can find all this smog stuff .It taked patience, time and alot of calling and leg work to track down what you need. I found a near mint set of manifolds with part number and correct dated too, off a junked nova in New Mexico for my 74 L-82 Camaro Z28. It had lived its whole life in there . Looking in the dry states is good idea , many of the manifolds I found were horrible mess from the northeast.
Corvette manifold is harder to find than the Camaro , so you may have to deal with a corvette parts yard. I'd shop around and be patient. As soon as you spend 500 with a corvette ripoff junker, then somebody with have a set for 50.00 they want out of their garage. Its the way things always works.
Nice to see somebody fixing up a L-82 instead of tearing them apart.
Good luck
