A friend is looking at a 77 wonderig if it is the original engine ?
The only number you can see with out moving something is M0401 8vp this is on passengers side of the block.
Does anyone know what the 8 vp means

On the front of the engine, on passenger side, there is a flat pad. On it should be stamped the Vin number of the car. (Just in front of the cyl. head.. The block casting number should be 3970010 and for the heads, 33382. I believe the M0401 is incorrect but check it against the last numbers of the Vin. I do not know of any 8vp.
