the other cam is too radical with 108 lobe centers and you would have to be at least 12-1 compression for it to work at the low end and midrange..jmho....
Good point, my engine guy seems to think the ZL1 would still work ok with 11:1, but I agree shame to miss out on the bottom end in street application

I've seen not great bottom end improvement by increasing CR, meaning that a nasty cam will be nasty anyway.

the low speed operation and low end torque basically the same in the 3 options i tried :

-my current 427 : comp ZL1 cam , 11:1 CR , pump gas 98 RON ( GMPP open chamber heads alu)
-ealier 427 : L88 cam , 10:1 CR pump gas 98 RON (GMPP open chamber heads alu)
-earlier 427 : L88 cam , 11,5:1 CR , 100-102 RON gas ( cast iron heads , closed chambers)

the best improvement for low end torque and driveability has been moving from a downleg boosters holley 800DP , to an annular boosters 850 DP and dial in a bunch of advance ( my current 427 has total 38.5 deg all in at 1700 rpm)
