I purchased Tom's differential Locator kit and can not figure out how to install the disk. I've got my bushings out but I can't determine where the disk should mount. If they mount flush at the top? Anyone else have them? Thanks Scott http://www.tomsdifferentials.com/catalog.asp?pg=25
The bushings get left in and the discs get put on top the the bushings. I'll see if I have a picture of mine. I used studs and ran a nut up on the bushings and tightened it down then put the disc on and tightened the second nut. I made mine. I cut 2 discs of aluminum and drilled a hole in them and then made the studs the correct length. Not as shiny as Toms but they get the job done.
Here you can see it.
Then I just did a big oops. I took the bushings out and destroyed them in the process. When I called and ordered the kit I could have sworn that they said to remove them, but I guess I miss under stood.
Thanks for the reply
Yes they need to be in there. They should not call it a locater but a stiffener instead. It just keeps the crossmember a little more secure than the rubber bushing. Here is another shot
Well crap, I just blew 120 bucks. I like how you did your fuel pump and filter. Did you just have the fitting welding in the bottom of the tank?
Thanks for the post
No it is actually a fuel bulkhead. It has a special washer on both sides so as you tighten it down it seals it up. The fitting is black and the washer is white with a rubber seal on the inside. The line to the pump is a #8 line and number #6 from the pump forward. I did this because I run fuel injection. It runs at 40 psi.
Nice and clean. I did a similar install on my jeep wrangler but not as clean. It was carb but I changed it out to a 4.0 stroker with fuel injection. I'm assuming your tank does not have a bladder..
No bladder. It really needs a small sump though. When fuel gets low and I hang a corner the fuel pressure drops and the motor sputters. Only when it gets real low.

Not all is lost. If you're a candidate for raising your diff anyway and not opposed to doing a little fab work (including light welding), you could return the kit and mount it sans bushings old school style with some of these...
AFAIK they're no longer available anywhere , but I should still have the dimensions and instructions filed away somewhere if you decide that you need them. FWIW, you're a candidate to raise your diff if you've significantly lowered your ride heights. My $.02
If it's not alot of trouble I'd like to look at the dimensions and instructions. The car is lowered and I've been trying to figure out how to get rid of the gap. I can do a little welding as long as know one can see it.
Thanks

Got to go for now, but I'll PM you later with them when I get back online.
