My 82 CE has developed a starting issue for which I can't find an answer. When I drive it and then stop someplace, it doesn't want to
restart again for about an hour. When it eventually does start, everything is fine. My wife is now afraid to ride with me for fear of being stuck miles away from home. Anyone experience a similar problem and know of a fix???
Does the car turn over? If not, it sounds like starter heat soak. I'm surprised a stock 82 would have this though. Its not exactly the heat pump that early small blocks were. Mine never did this, but I replaced the CFI motors starter almost right away due to a few intermittent engagement problems.
You can try a starter blanket, a mini starter, or even just a new starter and see if that works. Do a search on starter heat soak.
You need to state whether its cranking on not firing or not cranking. If it is cranking, check for spark at the plugs and fuel spray from the injectors.
