Default Re-doing electrical system.

Hey everyone, I have a 1976 corvette. I am doing the electrical system now. I put my new dash harnes in today. I did not put the dash back it, but I am having issues starting my car. It will not even try to start, so it looks like I am not getting juice. The battery is charged. The ignition switch is new and connected properly. I got my harness and all of my new harnesses from lectric limited. My 4 ways are on all the time as well. I do not know what is wrong there. They just keep flashing. I pulled the **** in and out. I have no idea what is going on there either. If you guys can offer any advice i would appreciate it. The fuses and flashers are all new too.

Did you overlook the neutral safety switch?

For the four-way flashers being on all the time I would be checking the switch or the switch wiring to confirm all's well.

Hey thatnks. I hooked up the neutral saftey switch from the old harness, and now the car starts, but the 4 ways still remain on. Is there anything else I need to do? Is there smething in the steering column that i need to replace. The turn signal switch is new by the way. I appreciate your help!

If you have your old turn signal switch unplug the new one at the harmonica connection and plug in the old. Is the problem still there? This may help rule out the new switch. You can do this without removing the switch from the column.

Try unplugging your turn signal switch at the harmonica connection and see if the flashers stop flashing. That might give you a clue where its coming from.

Do you have a wiring diagram?

The flasher is located on the fuse box. Switch it with the signal light flasher to determine if the flasher is toast. The switch may be faulty by completing the circuit when the switch is in or out. Normal position is out, for no hazards; in to activate. The harmonic connection may be miswired and providing power to the flasher. This is where a good wiring diagram will help you confirm all harmonic connection wire by wire.

PM this member and ask for a diagram for your year.

I unplugged the turn signal switch. The 4 ways did stop flashing. Is the problem the turn signal switch, or do you think there is something else? I have no idea how the 4 ways work as far as the **** that connects to the column. If you can help I appreciate it.

In doing that, the 4 ways will stop even with a good switch.

Position "K" on the connector is a brown wire for power for the 4 ways.
Flashers have been known to fuse and fail in the on position, so pull the flasher at the fuse box, it should disable them, try a known good flasher there.
Jim Shay a chart for the harmonica wires.
