how does one attach a new #4 mount to the body?
Pop rivits dont seem too strong.....drill a hole through the body and bolt it on?
Steve is near Niagara Falls, I wasn't joking about the 11 hr. return drive. If you've never done body mounts before be prepared for a nightmare. Due to our climate our cars regardless of whether they're stored every winter (which is a given) never come out easy. In some cases the mounts have to be rebuilt.
I also wasn't kidding when I said it should take me about 40 hours to do all 8 of mine. Steve is about an hour from me and as much as I know Steve would help me, I couldn't ask since he's got to much on his plate due to his body off resto he's been working on for years. Ya see we're both on a deadline for next year and this time we can't accept failure.
Right Steve~

It's MUCH more involved than that, if you're body mount is in good shape then that's half the battle and for the most part you won't know for sure untill you take it apart.
Read the link below Dodosmike, it should give you an idea of what's involved:
The #4 mounts are close to the tank so unless you are sure that there won't be any gas fumes leaking from the 30+ year old rubber hoses you might find that the glass is half full of explosives. Hate to lose another forum member.

That got me laughing, but seriously, removing the gas tank might be a good idea! Although I had my mounts redone and they had to weld a plate just like yours and they didnt remove the tank.
[B]REMOVE THAT TANK![B] I just had a close call with a fire last week while working on a Ford tractor. Gas shut off valve was closed and the gas was drained from the lines and carb and sat empty for 2 days. My helper hit the ignition switch by mistake and all he** broke loose. First time I've ever had to use a fire extinguisher. Needless to say, I now have a new helper and a new pair of shorts!
