I just finished painting my '78, now the right side headlight drags at the top, because of paint build up. After a closer look the right side light seems to low at the rear of the cover about a 1/16 of an inch.
I need to raise the rear edge. I looked underneath and believe the adjustment has to be made at the piviot point on each side.
Are the holes slotted at this point? The inside I think I can get to, but the outside looks hard. Is this the corrent way to go?
Not slotted just a big round hole. Are you sure the body hasn't separated from the cross bar ?
edit- one other thing , on the back side of the headlight I frequently find a rough edge that can be carefully sanded off.
slide your finger under and see if it is rough

Confirming the info from Roger, Yes- the pivot will adjust the rear up and down. Suggest you also check the header bar to make certain that the headlight bracket hasn't corroded at the bolt or that the header bar is not rusted out causing the bracket to drop. Both are suspect areas to check.
