Hi all , Hope someone can point me in the right direction, I had my mechanic take the 4 speed out my 80, then took it to another trans shop to fix the leaks apparently not meant to have washers on the front and side bolts, also ext housing bush changed. Now its all back together I have some serious vibrations coming through the car, mainly on acceleration gear stick really rattling away, feels like a rotational vibration the quicker i go the more it vibrates, possibly a drive shaft balance issue? My mechanic wont take responsibility also the speedo is jumping all around now. Any ideas anyone?
You can try unbolting the driveshaft and rotating it half turn and reconnecting. Check for anything loose, transmission to engine, transmission to mount, shifter to bracket, etc. Check the speedo cable where it attaches to trani possibly binding.

driveshaft U-Joints could need replacing, something might have got banged up while the driveshaft was out.
speedo cable could be binding, make sure it is lubed up and not really obvious kinks or 90 degree angles. ( search this forum, there are several ideas on properly lubeing a speedo cable).
Check the unijoint caps to make sure ALL the rollers are in place too while you flip the shaft....
maybe the cap fell on the floor when they were removing the shaft at the workshop, and didn't put all the rollers back in.
Any chance you may have a clearance issue after reinstallation?
trans touching the body or firewall somewhere possibly?
rotated the drive shaft half turn same thing, one of the uni cups didnt seat all the way down until i did the bolts up there is some excess welds on where the u joint cradle meets the shaft. But was like this already before the box came out.hmmmm
