Default Correct length for 79 speedometer cable

I need to replace my cable on my 79 and plan to bypass the cruise control which I disconnected when I put in the new 422 hp. motor. I have the original 4 spd. tranny. I have seen many different lengths offered online for the manual transmission without cruise from all the Corvette part suppliers and local auto part stores. They range from 61" to 80". Can anyone tell me what I should get to make this work and look good?

i got one from orielly auto for my 79, i removed my cruise control transducer. and purchased the single piece, 80" one, about $13
imo, its a little too long, but it works fine. speedometer works much smoother now.

I saw those 80" cables at O'Rielly, but if the others are only 61", what do you do with the extra 19"?

I can't believe so many have looked at this question and so few have replied. I'm sure many of you have replaced your speedometer cable. What is the normal length for the single cable?

I can believe it, I doubt many have ever bothered to measure. I know I haven't.

Do a search here. Looks like 72"

Well, I looked at every source and finally decided on the 72" cable. When all was said and done and installed, I could have gone with the 63" cable from NAPA auto parts. I had plenty of extra cable and had to fasten it to the side with a screw-in holder to keep it off the headers near the tranny connection. I think the 63" is the best fit for my 79.
