ORIGINAL POST: My 454 is frozen after being left 4 years. Did the marvels mystery marinade in pistons and the push rods and valve springs to no avail. Pushrods are also bent. Next step is to see if it will turn with rods & rockers removed from system. Problem is the valve springs are compressed to different lengths around the heads. How do i remove the parts under the force of compression? I have basic hand tools and an autozone down the street.
UPDATE:
I pulled the pushrods and returned to turn the engine by hand. It would not budge by hand, but it became cooperative with the aid of a 4' cheater bar. The cheater bar did not loosen the works, that is to say that the engine pulley will turn with the aid of the bar, but will not turn by hand.
Obviously something is amiss regarding proper function, particularly since it remains so difficult to turn without the resistance of the pushrods. I am becoming fearful that the heads will need to come off next (not knowing where to go next) and eventually it will become necessary to figure out a way to hoist& stand the engine, then rebuild it. That aside, what would you suggest next?

I have friend that owns a salvage yard and he told me once that he threw away alot of what he thought were frozen engines and then one day he found out that the belts on the pulleys were justed rusted together and now when he cut them off they almost all turned over.
Now that its rotating, have you tried squirting mystery oil in the cylinders, turnig a quarter turn, squirting cylimders, another quarter turn, etc, etc. Now that its moving you might need more marinade applied over time with the pistons in different positions. Good luck.
