Total Loss
Thanks for all the support on the old "Wreck" thread regarding the accident I had in my '77 when someone pulled out in front of me. :cheers: I guess I owe you an update as was requested, so here it is. The car was totaled and I was offered $9,179.82. Not too bad considering I paid $10.5K 4 years ago and I have doubled the mileage since. However I would lose some investments, such as my aftermarket stereo, Cragar SS mags, chambered exhaust and the detailed engine. Besides that, I just couldn't let the car go. The salvage was valued at $1,990.65, so I bought it back and got the car and a check for $7,189.17 and I am satisfied with that.
Now that the car is totaled, I guess that means it is modification time! :D My plan is to recruit the help of a mechanic friend and transplant the engine and tranny to my '67 Chevy pickup. (It currently has a worn, late '70's Pontiac 400.) Then I will fix the Vette (custom front end?) and look for a big block or high output small block to drop in it. Sweet! :yesnod: It's going to be hard being without the car as show season ramps up, though. :(

Hard to say congratulations for that what happened to you, but you did well!
The money will give you a little relief for that what happened.

I agree with the rest that you did OK. You did alright because you got the car for a fair buy back and a reasonable amount of cash, and the insurance company did alright because they don't have to pedal off a wrecked corvette. Sounds like it worked out OK. Well, could have been a whole better deal, but considering the circumstances, it's OK. :crazy: You know what I mean. :cheers:

Who was the insurance company, and what type of coverage did you have?? I am sure glad you made out well, and it seems like the type of insurance company I would like to deal with!! :yesnod:

The insurance company was Nationwide. I have no idea what kind of coverage it was because I carry Allstate. My car was covered by the policy of the person who pulled out in front of me since he was at fault.
