I am looking to buy a battery booster pack for use with my vehicles and motorcycle. Just not sure what I need to be looking for. Anyone have any ideas or opinions. Thanks, Kevin
It was certainly not the least expensive, but I have seen literally dozens of less expensive jump-boxes that fail in less than a year. In some cases the internal battery just goes bad and won't hold a charge, in other cases they get overheated and burn the cables. In most cases they're just considered consumables. This one is heavy duty. It also includes a compressor which comes in handy at the track from time to time.
I have used it to start my '73 Corvette a few times when the battery was completely dead from sitting and it spins it just like the battery was fully charged. I've had it 3 years now and it's as dependable as they day I bought it.
Always check the amp hour rating of the unit and not just peak either. The higher the rating the more expensive the unit, it's that simple. This one is 425 cranking and 325 cold cranking.
Suprising how well some of these booster pack's work, as got my friend's 350 sb powered boat started when he forgot to turn off the refrigerator. Was a big expensive job though, and you can usually judge the capacity of these by weight. I personally have a couple marine batteries in storage cases for house back up power with inverter, or most anything else. Trick is keeping this stuff charged, and keep mine on maintainer's. Found this to be the most versitile solution.
