Muncie Input shaft question

Hi , I can move the end of the input shaft up and down approx. 1/16 of an inch or so. Is this normal? There is no oil in the trans.

1/16 isnt too bad. Do you have the front bearing cover off? Take a look and see if play is at front bearing. If shaft isn't rubbing on front bearing/input cover you're ok

I'm pretty sure there is a small amount of play in any transmission. My 4 spd had some wobble.

It's fine. The pilot bushing supports the front of the shaft.
