Default Manifolds

Hi

Can someone please advise me if there is any significant difference between the aftermarket 2.5" rams horn manifolds or between rams horns generally from year to year other than the angle of the outlet and bracket spots.

These ones do not have the alternator bracket on them but say they are for 55 -64 chevy's

The 63 vette replicas have a bracket that i dont want.

Would these be ok on a 71 ?

What's the casting part number? In looking at "Corvette by the numbers" looks like the only difference in 2.5" manifolds is the location and type of the various generator/alternator mounts but not sure. Looks like all the 71' SB use the 2" outlet.

No idea what specific manifold they are trying to copy with this aftermarket set. Was it only vette's that had 2.5".

I believe they were all 2" outlets. The exhaust pipes were stepped up to 2.5" on the LT1's and ran 2.5" all the way to the mufflers. Then the outlet of the mufflers stepped back down to 2" outlet so the tip could be installed.

I may be wrong but I thought only small blocks were 2 inch andf the big blocks only were 2.5 inch. Best way is to check casting numbers.

I don't think the big block used ram horns.

2 1/2 outlet rams horns were never used on a C3. Last Corvette application was mid 60s C2. You can use them on a C3, but you may experience some interference on the passenger side with the drag link with the pipe. I have 2 1/2" outlet C4 mini-headers on mine, you can also use C4 LT1 manifolds. You can always cut and grind off the bad parts that you don't want on the C2 manifold. I have no first hand experience with the offshore replicas, but have heard that they are cast very thin and may have cracking issues over time. I am adding a photo of my installlation.

I took a pair of exhaust manifolds From a c2 (from a F.I. 327 2.5 dump) had them extrude honed cut off the bractets and installed on a 410 cui motor and they flowed as well as long tube headers. It was expensive but looks stock.
