Default suspension - 1977

Now that I've seen the 50th ann I can cancel my order & fix up my 77. The suspension is shot -front, back, everywhere. I think it's beyond the abilities of me & my son. Does anyone know what I might be looking at cost wise? I want to keep it pretty stock - no upgrade on the rear spring. I've looked in Mid America & Ecklers but really can't determine what is needed. I'm sure if I let a mechanic order the parts the cost will jump dramatically, but I may have no choice. Maybe if someone knew the labor costs I could work from there.

I'm in Northern California. Near SF

If you just want stock rebuild, then order the Vette Brakes and PRoducts touring kit. http://www.vettebrakes.com/ You can order a catalog from their site or buy directly from there.
good luck

Well, best advice is to buy kits.
Ecklers offers a front and a rear end overhaul kit.
Front is priced at 200$, rear is priced at 170 $ (mounting) plus190$ (bushings)
Thats basics!
Take in consideration the steering box (ouch 200$ + 40$ core), the tie rod sleeves (40$ /pr) Pwr steering cylinder (140$ new), control valve ( 200$ new) and the U-Joints (112$ /set).

All is rubber prices and without labor!

I could continue, but its up to you how deep you dig in.......

Any more Q´s ? Just ask! :D

If your looking for suspension rebuild packages, check out Zip and Riks. Good service and quality parts. You might want to investigate the possability of installing Polyurathane bushings instead of rubber.

I had let my 77 sit for a long time and had to have a mechanic re-do the trailing arms and bushings front a arms and bushings and other rubber bushings that had gone bad, as well as rebuild the brakes + full tune up and transmition service..... hope that helps...

Skinsfan - that's what I was looking for - now I have a clue as to what to expect cost wise. I wish I could do it, but I'm not as limber as I used to be & I'd hate to spend a bunch for the parts & mess it up. Maybe I can make a deal with someone if I buy the parts.
