I believe that we are on the same page! I would like to have a roll cage or harness bar and see what that does. I don't want to stiffen up the suspension until I get the slop out. My front end is all new and rides excellent. The very important rear is waiting for more money. The posts from people w/17s have been very good. They say the wheels made more difference than anything else. W/17 a bigger brakes package can be used. If I'm going to spend money on upgrading my brakes, and I will, I want the biggest bang for my buck. Thanks for responding.
Springs are for going over pot holes, sway bars are for cornering. I've always heard that body roll, tires and ride height are the big factors for improving cornering.
Stiffer springs will help performance, but result in a much harsher ride. Some people are willing to make this trade. The best way to minimize body roll is connect both sides of the car together with a sway bar.
I went with matched sway bars from VBP in the front and rear, 220lb glass spring (close to stock equivalent), stock replacement springs up front.
She corners beautifully & doesn't spill my coffee.
The south bay freeways beat the crud out of my car. Or i should say the whole bay are freeway system! light weight car and 550/420 springs with 1 1/8 3/4 spring ends and 17inch low profile tires. I don't go on ruff roads. 8 point cage and frame welded up. I feel sorry for it! I'm coming over the vintage races and a place in the Corvette parking in august. I can corner with the highest modified cars on the street with severe alignment specs and Z-rated AA traction tires.
G: Besides the Silver State where else can we run our cars hard? I'm trying to find out more about this NASA group and their High Performance Driving Experience. Sounds like big fum, but I can't find out HOW MUCH! You can check them out at NASAProRacing.com. Let me know what you think.
